Meditation House Events
These events are regularly scheduled and hosted by Lisa and Buddy Wilson here at Meditation House.
Group Meditations
- Please join us in sharing the vibrations of peace and calmness that come from sitting in stillness with spiritual friends in this sacred space. Even if you've never sat to meditate before, you are welcome to join us.
- We'll take the first several minutes each week to go over techniques to get us started and then give ourselves time to practice our own stillness. For reference, we'll be working with the meditation techniques outlined in Jyotish Novak's easy-to-read and easy-to-understand guide to meditation. We have several copies of the book to share or you can purchase a copy from us.
- These meditations typically start with a prayer and a chant and end with a short inspirational reading and healing prayers. We'll have snacks and coffee downstairs afterwards. Donations are welcome but these sessions are always free. It's also perfectly fine to just show up but if you sign up for the mailing list (below) we can send you a reminder or let you know if a session has to be cancelled.
- The next regular group meditation is scheduled for: > Monday April 14th from 5:30-6:30pm These dates are also currently planned:
- > Monday April 21st
- > Monday April 28th
- > Monday May 5th
Community Meals
Getting together with others along the path and sharing food is one of the simplest ways to feel God's presence. We've gotten into the practice of having a meal together after our weekly Group Meditations, sharing food in an extended family style.
We prepare a vegetarian soup to serve as the center of the meal and others bring sides and accompaniments if they wish. We seem to always have plenty of food and there is no obligation to bring anything so no pressure! We also have disposable containers so you can take leftovers home.
Our next community meal is scheduled for:
> Monday April 14th at 6:30pm (after Group Meditation)
Tibetan Singing Bowl Meditations
Metal singing bowls have been used in healing and meditation for centuries. The resonating, complex vibrations from these traditional seven-metal bowls produce natural states of deep relaxation and mental clarity.
If you've enjoyed a sound bath or wonder why people love them, please join us. We follow the gentle practices taught to us by Atma Buti founder Suren Shrestha from Nepal.
Our sessions last about an hour and include relaxation, healing prayers and chakra balancing protocols. We have yoga mats and blankets for lying down or we have chairs and cushions if you prefer.
Donations are welcome but these sessions are always free. You do not need to sign up but feel free to let us know you're coming. This helps us arrange the space for the expected number of people.
Our next singing bowl meditation is scheduled for:Saturday April 26th from 3:00-4:00pm
Kids and Family Yoga
- Yoga is not just for grown-ups. We've been teaching children's yoga for many years and will be offering drop-in yoga classes that are suitable for both children and adults. Sessions start with movement and include pranayama, affirmations, asana, meditation, visualization and plenty of games and activities. You don't have to bring kids either. The idea is mainly just to be together and have fun.
Sessions are led by Buddy & Lisa. Donations are welcome but classes are free and open to anyone who is sincerely interested. You do not need to sign up but feel free to let us know you're coming. This helps us arrange the space for the expected number of people. Also, if you sign up for the mailing list (below) we can send you a reminder or let you know if a session has to be cancelled.
The next Kids & Family Yoga class is scheduled for:
> Wednesday April 16th from 4:00-5:00pm
These dates are also currently planned:> Wednesday April 23rd> Wednesday April 30th> Wednesday May 7th
Kirtans (Chanting)
Chanting sacred songs is a wonderfully effective way to deepen your devotion and energize your meditation practice. We hosted our first kirtan on January 1st of this year and we're trying to put one on the calendar every month now.
The chants are simple to sing and the music is easy to play. We have a temple harmonium and a small sound system. Whether you want to chant along with us or help us provide the music, there is something for you here.
We are working on scheduling the next kirtan. Please check back or sign up below and we'll let you know when it's coming!

Sunday Satsang
We're coming together one Sunday per month in the Sanctuary where we can simply meet and talk or live-stream service from one of the many Ananda locations elsewhere in the world.
Starting in March, we're beginning the satsang with a Fire Ceremony at 9:15am followed by 30-minutes of silent meditation before we set up the screen to livestream service. We'll have snacks, coffee, tea and a light lunch downstairs after.
In the Fire Ceremony, we offer our lives to God through two ancient sacred mantras: the Gayatri Mantra for enlightenment and the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra for liberation. During the Gayatri, we offer ghee into the fire, symbolizing our devotion and spiritual yearning. During the Mahamrityunjaya, rice is offered into the fire, representing the release of past karma. Just for fun, here are links to Ananda minister and delightful storyteller Murali Venkatrao talking about the origins of these two mantras: The Story of the Gayatri Mantra The Story of the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra Contact us to get on our mailing list and we'll send you a reminder or let you know if we have to cancel for some reason. Our next satsang is scheduled for: Sunday, May 4th from 9:00-11:30am
